After an introduction to the IMAGO technique and imaging, you will receive the IMAGO Camera for developing and implementing an image idea.

We are available to provide support and assistance if desired. You can come with a finished idea or start with a completely blank slate and dive into IMAGO. In the end, you will be alone with yourself and your reflection, triggering an exciting process!

Since IMAGO is also a place to slow down, you will generally be given as much time as you need.
In our experience, you should allow between 1.5 and 2 hours, or longer if you wish.

An IMAGO photographer will accompany you during your portrait session, help you realize your idea, and ultimately be responsible for ensuring a good result. You are responsible for your idea.

Above all, something you recognize yourself in and would like to see! That’s the most important thing! On our website and Instagram page, you will find many portrait examples that help you understand the special imaging technique.

However, here are a few technical notes about the outfit. Basically, every IMAGOgram is a self-portrait, so you decide what you want to wear. For a better understanding, we would like to point out that our paper is red-insensitive. This means that red tones appear very dark to completely black in the photo. A mixture of lighter, medium, and darker clothing creates wonderful contrasts and brings the image to life. Exclusively black and dark clothing results in a graphic reproduction.

White clothing results in a very light IMAGOgram. If you are unsure, you are welcome to bring a change of outfit to the IMAGO Studio and change there. Of course, you can also apply makeup at our studio. We always have the basics available, but if you want more, please bring it with you.

The photograph is rolled up in tissue paper and then bubble wrap, carefully packaged, and delivered in a black 70 cm long hard cardboard tube.

There is a big difference in approach between taking several photos and then choosing one, and concentrating on taking just one good portrait.

At IMAGO, it’s exactly the same: you work calmly, taking your time and concentrating on achieving a result. But if, for whatever reason, it doesn’t work out, you simply repeat the process (at no extra cost). In our experience, the first portraits are often the best, but not always!

You wouldn’t be the first person to want their dog on their IMAGOgram. It is possible in principle, but the dog has the final say here.

It depends on your skill and endurance how many of you can fit into a 60 cm x 200 cm picture. The highest number was 10 to 11 people.

But there’s no reason not to give it a try. You can find lots of examples of group portraits on our Instagram and website.

A resounding yes! It takes more time, and failed images are naturally more common until a good result is achieved, and the challenge for IMAGO employees is much greater! This is the case for portraits of 7 or more people. It’s best to talk to us.

Basically, an IMAGOgram is unique because it is created directly on photo paper without a negative.

However, there is nothing to stop you from having two or more portraits taken of the same subject. The images will be similar, but not identical! For sessions involving multiple portraits, we can agree on a special price. Alternatively, we can create a digital reproduction of your portrait on request. This can then be printed at up to a quarter of the original size.

Following your IMAGO portrait session, we will advise you on the best way to hang your portrait.

There are many options, ranging from simple Aul Dibond lamination (mounting on an aluminum plate) to lamination behind acrylic glass to shadow gap or behind-glass framing. It depends a little on where the picture will be hung. But we can discuss all of this in the studio. Examples of all the options are on display in the studio. We are also happy to provide you with full support.
